        On August 3rd 1492, Columbus set out on his voyage with his three ships, the Niña, the Pinta, and the Santa Maria. The journey dragged on lengthy than expected, but finally on October 12th they reached land. Columbus had reached what he thought was India, but he had actually reached Cuba. The island of Cuba was a letdown so the crew left to search for more land. They order another island, which Columbus named Hispaniola.
