Abstract
The Arbuckle-Simpson aquifer in Johnston County, Oklahoma is a highly fractured carbonate aquifer. In this aquifer, the control of faults and fractures on fluid movement is not well-understood. For around 39,000 residents of the surrounding region, this part of the aquifer serves as primary body of water source. In fact, at unmatched location close to torpedo Creek town, large amounts of water is currently being pumped out for mining purposes. It is actually much likely that such water withdrawal could hold a significant drop in groundwater level and scratch water sources in the area, including streams, springs, and wells. To investigate the effect of large amounts of water withdrawal on the level of groundwater table, time lapse resisitivity imagination study is proposed. Time lapse resisitivity imaging around the water withdrawal zone will be employed to present ground water table variations in depth with regard as to time.
Introduction
A portion of the Arbuckle-Simpson aquifer close to Pilot Springs and the town of Mill Creek, Johnston County (Figure 1), is a highly fractured carbonate aquifer. This area is patch upd primarily of Ordovician limestones, dolomites, shales, and sandstones. The Cambro-Ordovician units that comprise the aquifer crop out in the Arbuckle, Tishomingo, and Hunton anticlines, in 500 even up miles of outcrop area that serves as the recharge for the aquifer. Existing geologic map indicates the mien of two major faults bounding the northern and Confederate boundaries of the Mill Creek block, as well as the figurehead of a smaller cross-fault passing west of Pilot Springs (Figure 2). The presence of Pilot Springs itself is not easily accounted for in the current understand of the region. Pennington...If you want to get a full essay, order it on our website: Ordercustompaper.com
