On the fourteenth of October 1066 William of Normandy won the Battle of Hastings. There are many reasons for this feature and I will explain them all further in this essay.
One of the reasons that William won the battle was his luck. First of all he got to Senlac Hill, the place where the battle occurred, long before Harold since to get from Normandy to Britain he needed strong wind to blow him across. The situation that this come out long before Harold got to Hastings was a huge gene in him winning the battle. As well as this he was lucky because the regular army he had to fight against was very tired. Harolds army had just fought Harald Hardrada and were therefore very easy to trick. other point is, that of all the people the arrow could have striking, it hit Harold. And out of everywhere that it could have hit him, it got him in his midsection which guaranteed his death and scared the remaining Saxons away.
Another reason for Williams win was his preparation. He had more men in his army than Harold and had a cavalry and bowmen and archers whereas Harold had only infantry and had left most of his archers in London. William had also built a fort in the fourth dimension that he spent waiting for Harold. He had stronger defences and a give quality army.
William Duke of Normandys drawship also contributed to his win. He had nimble tactics and plans, so he managed to trick the Saxons 3 times. He also motivated his men and was a better leader than Harold. He planned ahead and that really changed the course of the battle.
In conclusion, the main reason that William won the battle of Hastings was the fact that Harold was a bad leader. King Harold lost the battle because his army was not prepared. Some of his best fighters died at the Battle of Stamford twain and the rest of his army were tired out from the battle and the jaunt south to meet Duke Williams army.
