I incessantly thought that the early colonist had African slaves and that there were virtually indentured servants, but they looked after the African slaves and didnt work side by side with them.
I thought that these indentured servants from Ireland and England where treated better than the African slaves, but after variant I learned that they were treated just as bad as them. The only catch to it that if they ran away from their master; they would affirm a lesser punishment than that of an African slave. I thought it was interesting that the majority of these indentured servants were from Ireland and England were the criminals and lazy people in their society, and that they were promised that they would be awarded after they performed their service they would give land of their own, which would make them rich if they grow tobacco.
