I couldnt opine what I was hearing. For three years I had listened to everything he had written. Ive collected exclusively his music. I sit occasional at the piano playing and singing his songs. Finally, Elton John had follow to Wheeling. Finally, Elton John was close enough for me to see in person.
I had found out to the highest degree the concert only a few days before the scheduled date. Would there be tickets left and would they be located well? Also, would my dad be willing to get me there? I spoke to my parents about going, further they were concerned about my studies. I still searched for tickets in hopes of realizing my dream.
The next couple of days passed with no decision and tickets were diminish with each hour along with my hopes. When I left for school day Tuesday morning, the day of the concert, I once again asked my dad if he would check for tickets. He did non commit either way. My closing class stop at 6:15 pm. and the concert began at 8:00pm. The drive is 90 minutes on a good day. Tickets were probably expensive and I would substantiate to pay for it myself. Traffic was probably terrible. I could be studying any number of things, but I just did not care. How could Elton John be so close and come so far, and I not do my part by care?




Through the day I had to block out thoughts of get to the concert. Was my dad looking for tickets and if he was would he find a good seat? I was visualizing sitting right in

front of the stage and being mesmerized by all the familiar sounds that are so distinctly Elton John.
My class ended and I went quickly out to the corner where my father picks me up. He was late coming by 15 minutes which was unusual. I got in the car not expecting what I was about to be told. Heres your ticket, well have to hurry. I could not believe what I heard. I thought it was a cruel joke, but I looked at the printed ticket and it looked authentic.
